LGBTQ+ Women’s Sports Day 2023 - Trinity College

On January 28th 2023 we were delighted to partner with some amazing organisations to host a Winter sports day for women and non-binary folk from the LGBTQ+ community. Read more below on how the day went and to view imagery and videos.

Following the success of last summer’s LGBTQ+ women’s sports event it was decided a Winter day out was exactly what’s needed to chase away the winter blues (literally!). Opportunities for socialising in healthy spaces are limited at times which is why it’s important to create spaces for community members to hang out, have the craic and get to know new people.

Sport is more than just an activity to get the heart rate going. If used creatively it can encompass so much more, especially in terms of the social and mental health benefits it can provide. There are numerous LGBTQ+ inclusive sports clubs across the country, a list of which can be found here, so why not reach out now and find your community!

Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership (dcswphub.ie) was delighted to partner and support the delivery of the Winter Women's Sports Day.  DCSWP is part of Dublin City Council and has a specific role in facilitating opportunities for everyone in our communities to partake in sport and physical activity through our dedicated programmes, services and facilities.  Congratulations to all that took part in this event, there were plenty of laughs on the day - already excited for the Summer Sports Day!” (Maz Reilly - DCSWP)

Keep an eye out for our Summer LGBTQ+ Women's Sports Event which will take place on Saturday June 17th 2023!
